Professional Wildlife Control & Exclusion
In Ontario, urban wildlife like raccoons, squirrels, and skunks are a common part of our landscape. However, when they decide to nest in your attic, under your deck, or inside your chimney, they can cause thousands of dollars in structural damage and pose health risks. Our services provide humane, permanent solutions that comply with the Ontario Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.
1. Professional Site Audit & Entry Discovery
The key to wildlife control is not just removing the animal, but identifying every potential "weak spot" on your home.
-
Roof & Soffit Inspection: We check for torn shingles, bent soffits, and damaged roof vents—the primary entry points for raccoons and squirrels.
-
Foundation & Deck Check: We look for burrowing holes under porches, steps, and sheds where skunks and groundhogs prefer to nest.
-
Identify Occupancy: We determine if we are dealing with a solitary adult or a mother with a litter of babies, which dictates our removal strategy.
-
2. Humane Removal & "One-Way" Technology
In accordance with Ontario law, we prioritize "Exclusion" over trapping and relocation.
One-Way Exclusion Doors
We install custom-fitted one-way doors over the main entry point.
-
The Exit: Animals can leave the structure to find food.
-
The Barrier: Once outside, they cannot push their way back in.
-
The 1km Rule: If an animal must be trapped (rare), Ontario law requires it be released within 1 kilometre of the capture site. We focus on keeping them out of your house rather than moving them to a new neighborhood where they may not survive.
-
Hands-On Baby Removal
During birthing seasons (Spring/Summer), our technicians perform a "physical reach" to safely remove immobile babies. We place them in a heated weather-protected "release box" so the mother can move them to a secondary den nearby once she exits the one-way door.
3. Structural Reinforcement & "Animal-Proofing"
Wildlife are persistent; if they can't get in the old hole, they will try to make a new one.
-
Heavy-Duty Screening: We install 16-gauge galvanized steel mesh over roof vents, chimney caps, and plumbing stacks.
-
Soffit Bolting: We reinforce weak soffit corners with specialized fasteners that raccoons cannot pry open.
-
L-Skirting: To prevent skunks from digging under decks, we install mesh deep into the ground in an "L" shape, making it physically impossible for animals to burrow back under.
4. Decontamination & Damage Repair
Wildlife leave behind more than just structural damage; they leave biohazards.
-
Latrine Cleanup: Raccoons often use one area of an attic as a "bathroom." We safely remove contaminated insulation and feces, which can carry Baylisascaris (roundworm).
-
Odor Neutralization: We use enzyme-based cleaners to remove the scent of the previous occupant, which prevents other animals from being attracted to your home.
-
Electrical Safety: We inspect for chewed wiring (common with squirrels) and recommend repairs to prevent fire hazards.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can't you just drive the raccoon to a forest 50km away?
No. In Ontario, it is illegal to relocate wildlife more than 1km away. Research shows that animals relocated to unfamiliar territories often die within weeks due to territorial disputes or inability to find food. Our "One-Way Door" system is much more humane and effective.
What happens if there are babies in the attic?
We do not use one-way doors if there are flightless babies inside, as they would starve. We remove the babies by hand and place them in a safe box for the mother to retrieve. This is the only way to ensure the mother doesn't "rip the roof open" trying to get back to her young.
Why are squirrels chewing my wires?
A squirrel's teeth never stop growing. They chew on hard materials—like your home's electrical wiring—to file their teeth down. This is a leading cause of attic fires in Ontario homes.
Will a skunk spray my house during removal?
Our technicians are trained in "low-stress" removal. By using one-way doors and specialized handling, we minimize the chance of a skunk feeling threatened enough to spray.
